Amorim’s FSC journey leads towards a responsible future

Amorim Cork Italy has long embarked on a path of sustainability that is unparalleled. If maintaining technological advancements, in order to defend the wines it protects, is the basis of its business activity, doing so with a view to respecting nature, from which its entire supply chain originates, is a most harmonious choice. That is why, by rigorously overseeing its entire supply chain, right from the cultivation of the oak trees, it is able to certify all its cork stoppers with the FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) standard.

In so doing, Amorim provides its customers with a possibility in times when the value of a wine is evermore dependent on how it is recounted. While on the one hand there is the tangible value – that of tasting which, from a sensory point of view, that must remain impeccable-, on the other, the most important intangible value is that of the road which that wine has travelled, and the choices made in order for it to reach those who drink it. Furthermore, in a world where packaging is increasingly a vehicle for demonstrating (and not just talking about) sustainability, using an FSC® certified cork stopper provides a competitive edge, both in the market and regarding the environment. It means that the chosen suppliers apply production processes that respect nature, while guaranteeing customers that their wines are protected by boxes, capsules, labels and stoppers made of material that has been obtained from responsibly cultivated forests. In turn this means protecting plant and animal species, the rights of indigenous peoples, the safety of forest workers and much more, in a virtuous circle that gives a return of a surplus value of sustainability.

By asking for Amorim’s certified version stoppers, customers are asking for accountability, and only those who make a concrete commitment can propose it with vigorous enthusiasm. For wineries, it is also an opportunity to make a concrete contribution to the future of forests and markets, starting with their own businesses.
