Precise dosing of adjuvants and additives? Discover Innotec systems

The alcoholic beverages industry has undergone a strong evolution in the last decades; regarding both the increase in production and quality standards, and the progressive inclusion of new products or alternative formulations of traditional beverages, such as ready-to-drink cocktails. While we are witnessing a very strong commercial push for Hard Seltzers in the US market, a number of Old World companies are strongly active in the production of wine-based drinks with added fruit juices, flavours and natural extracts.

The shift of consumer preferences towards these products requires the implementation of additional technological steps to achieve the desired blends or the simple addition of flavours. In fact, the homogenisation of additives in pre-bottling tanks alone does not offer any guarantee in terms of consistency of concentration and predisposes to potential stratification phenomena.

Any alteration in the final concentration of an additive in a drink can have not only important consequences on the quality and on medium-to-long term shelf life of the drink (e.g. preservatives, antioxidants), but is also detrimental to the recognition of the product to the customer, and consequently, to customer loyalty.

In this context, the use of INNOTEC automated dosing systems is of fundamental importance. With these systems, the additives and ingredients applied to the beverages are added with the highest level of precision upstream of the bottling process, avoiding time-consuming homogenisation procedures in the tank and allowing for work on small volumes. This includes low-to-medium viscosity “additives” such as fruit juices, arabic gum solutions and flavour additives, as well as high viscosity fruit purees.

The advantage of using the technology is not only in the dosage, but also in the possibility of including the technology into the more general integrated management system of filtration, bottling and cleaning/sanitation (CIP), guaranteeing a precise and safe process from a sanitary and microbiological point of view, without having a risk of variability caused by human mistakes.
